Session cut short to 20 minutes by another small tear in my 4.6. Shame cos
the conditions were really firing and I was sailing quite well. A fraction
overpowered on the 4.6 but not uncomfortable. Gybing on the inside was
quite easy with nice flat water, and also easier with the smaller sail.
Made all of the gybes dry that I attempted on the inside, and with the
smaller sail got much closer to planing out. My inability to gybe in the
swell on the outside is starting to annoy me now though, so will have to
start paying some attention to that. Swell was huge on the outside so got
some good jumps in. But then whilst checking the sail in the shallows near
the beach I noticed the tear so decided not to risk it any more and came
in.
Today was the first time I have used the 4.6 since I patched up the last
rip in it, so not a good sign that another one has appeared so soon. The
sail is really on its last legs now. Will sell it asap before I leave if
poss and look for another 4.4/4.5 here, but until then will cover it with
loads of stickers to reinforce it and then hope for the best. Shame since
despite being old and cheap (60 quid) it´s a nice light sail to use and
now worrying about getting new tears in it is distracting my attention from
my sailing at times. Ho hum.
